#87 on Wine Spectator's Top 100 Wines of 2016

WineSpectator Review:
Dark and brooding, this has a deep well of black currant, fig and bitter plum fruit in reserve, shrouded for now in smoldering charcoal, bay leaf and alder notes. Tapenade and tar details hang in the background. Offers a steel beam of a finish. Tuck this away in the back corner of your cellar. Best from 2020 through 2035. 1,438 cases made. --JM

Parker Review:
More powerful, backwards and inky than the Renaissance, the 2013 Cornas exhibits classic notes of cold steel, burning embers, crushed rock and inky purple fruit. Full-bodied, concentrated and with high, yet sweet, tannin, its a serious wine that will have two decades of longevity.

Tanzer Review:
Glass-staining ruby. Spicy, highly perfumed cassis, boysenberry, incense, smoky bacon and mineral scents show excellent clarity. Densely packed, fresh and energetic on the palate, offering concentrated flavors of fresh black and blue fruits and floral pastilles. Shows an alluring sweetness on the extremely persistent finish, which features harmonious tannins and a strong echo of smoky minerality

"This is THE buy in Malbec! Since the 1800's, Bodega Norton has been perfecting Malbec in Mendoza, and this is one of their best in history. This expressive and deeply luscious wine has note of ripe black fruit, violets with silky tannins and at $180 per case, it is one of the greatest values on the market. Don't miss this delicious opportunity!"

#8 on Wine Spectator's Top 100 Wines of 2016

WineSpectator Review:
This iconic super Tuscan was one of the early quality leaders in modern Italian wine. By paying close attention to farming practices and the ripeness levels of the grapes at harvest, owner Piero Antinori and winemaker Renzo Cotarella manage the tannins in the Sangiovese, which accounts for 80 to 85 percent of the blend, along with Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. The long growing season in 2013 developed the aromatics in the cellar, Cotarella began using 500-liter tonneaux, emphasizing the fruit and promoting silkier tannins. Malolactic conversion occurred in barrels, a mix of new and one-year-old French and Hungarian oak, where the wine aged for 14 months. Aromas of graphite, smoke and tobacco introduce the cherry flavor in this expressive, focused red. Firm tannins and lively acidity balance the fruit and purity, while herbal, spice and mineral elements all gather steam as this plays out on the long finish. Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. Best from 2017 through 2027.--Bruce Sanderson

Other Reviews:
This is amazing on the nose with blackberry, black truffle, dried cherry and hints of tobacco. So complex on the nose. Almost no need to taste it. Full body, soft and velvety tannins, and a persistent, fabulous finish. The mouthfeel is magic. 80% Sangiovese and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon. Drink or hold.
