	2005 Chateau Rauzan Segla 750ML #2 Wine Spectator TOP 100 2008 "Estate manager John Kolasa claims that nature did the lion's share of the work in 2005, leaving him and his team with a relatively simple job. Yet vast investment at the estate since the mid-1990s by the owners, who also control Chanel, enabled Rauzan to reap the benefits of a great growing season. 	2005 Chateau Guiraud 750ML #4 Wine Spectator TOP 100 2008 "Bordeaux's sweet wines shared the limelight in the region's legendary 2005 vintage. Many châteaus, like Guiraud, long under the direction of Xavier Planty, produced their best wine ever. During the harvest, grape pickers passed painstakingly through the estate's 210 acres of 35-year-old Sémillon and Sauvignon Blanc vineyards, selecting only grapes affected by botrytis. By harvest's end, each acre yielded only enough grapes for 54 cases of wine, with about 20 percent of that set aside for the estate's second label... Thick and spicy, with loads of dried pineapple, lemon and honey character. Full-bodied, very sweet and long. 	2005 Chateau Pontet Canet 750ML #7 Wine Spectator TOP 100 2008 "Owner Alfred Tesseron has masterminded one of the most remarkable turnarounds on Bordeaux's Left Bank in the past decade, elevating the quality of Pontet-Canet's wines beyond that of fifth-growth. While Pauillacs such as Château Mouton-Rothschild and Château Latour draw much higher prices, Pontet-Canet too crafts powerful wines, built for aging, that express its vineyards planted on poor, gravel soils half a mile from the Gironde River... Glorious aromas of currants, blackberries and cherries with hints of vanilla and cedar. Full-bodied, with exuberant fruit. Velvety tannins. Soft and round mouthfeel. This is supercharged with fruit. Wonderful purity of Cabernet Sauvignon. Very low yields this year. Best ever from here?" 95-100 points, Wine Spectator "Absolutely spectacular, Pontet-Canet’s 2005 receives the full attention of dedicated proprietor alfred tesseron. Produced from yields of 35 hectoliters per hectare (25% less wine than in 2004), it is a blend of 75% cabernet sauvignon and 25% merlot. The first vintage vinified in tiny cement cuves with pigeage for some lots, this wine will have 40-50 years of longevity, and should turn out to be the greatest pontet-canet since such ancient classics as 1961, 1945, and 1929. It boasts an inky,purple color as well as pure creme de cassis aromas, first-growth nobility and raciness, massive body, tannin, and extract, and a finish that lasts nearly a minute. Amazingly supple and harmonious, with tannins that are both gentle and tender and then just firm enough to let you know they're there. 	2005 Chateau Cos D Estournel 750ML #28 Wine Spectator TOP 100 2008 "Wonderful purity on the nose, with currants, berries and minerals. Spicy. Virginal cabernet sauvignon. Full-bodied, with very, very racy tannins that develop wonderfully on the palate. Expands on the palate. Cashmerelike texture. Goes on and on. Is it better than the 2003?" 98 Points, Wine Spectator "The 2005 Cos d’Estournel is made from an unusual blend of 78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 19% Merlot, and 3% Cabernet Franc. The Merlot was picked during the last nine days of September, and the Cabernets were finished by the 9th of October. The 2005's 13.85% Alcohol is the highest this estate has ever achieved. The implementation of such Burgundian winemaking techniques as malolactic in barrel and aging on its lees are resulting in wines of extraordinary texture as well as elegance. The 2003 may be more opulent, and for my taste a more compelling wine, but the 2005 is at the same level. Made from yields of 40 hectoliters per hectare, it exhibits an inky, purple color as well as a gorgeous nose of sweet red and black fruits, camphor, cedar, and pain grille. Extraordinarily well-defined, nuanced, and powerful, with high tannin as well as magnificent texture and richness, this classic offering will be uncommonly long-lived. WS 750ML #30 Wine Spectator TOP 100 2008 "Ultrarich and concentrated, with layers of fig, citrus and tangerine flavors that are shaded by toasty oak, filling out the flavor profile and ending with a complex marshmallow edge." 93 Points, Wine Spectator Winemaker's notes: Staying true to the consistent nature of Chardonnay from this cool coastal appellation, Byron’s 2005 Chardonnay combines vibrant fruit character with a rich texture and a silky finish. Aromas of orange blossom, Anjou pear and hazelnut are accented by hints of mineral and toasty oak.
