Chateau L'Évangile belongs within the élite names in the commune of Pomerol. I find the name evocative of a wine imbued with grandeur and authority, it name sounds as if it was baptised from the Heavens. Alas, my first encounter with the wine was an ignominous one, amidst a rugby scrum of frantic Christies' pre-sale customers, many insisting that their glasses were filled to the brim and ignoring any form of tasting etiquette. The event was such a shambles that I believe that the auction house refused to continue such free for alls.
