Now Viewing: Vietti Winery
The history of Vietti Winery started four generation ago, in the middle of the 19th Century for the vinification, but only at the beginning of the last Century did it become a winery with its own brand.
Mario Vietti first, then Alfredo Currado (Luciana Vietti’s husband) later continued to produce high quality wines from their own vineyards and by purchasing grapes. Thus, Vietti Winery grew to one of the top-level winery in the area, and was one of the first winery to export its products in the USA market.
In 1952, Alfredo Currado,a very innovative winemaker, was one of the first to select and vinified grape from single vineyard (such as Brunate, Rocche, Villero) and in 1967 he invested a lot of time to rediscover and understand the Arneis, which is now considered the most famous white wine from the Roero area.
In 1970 Alfredo and Luciana, n collaboration with some local artist, began to developed an idea to give more freshness and modern appeal to the labels (a really unusual concept for that period): so they started with the artist labels, working with artist as Gianni Gallo, Eso Peluzzi, Pietro Cascella, Mino Maccari, Pier Paolo Pasolini. In 1996, the whole collection of Janet Fish's label work on Barolo Villero 1990 was shown at the Museum of Modern Art of New York.
In 1983, Mario Corderoarrived,Alfredo’s son in law, came to the winery as a marketing and sales wiz.
Then in 1990 Luca Currado, an oenologist, came to conduct the winery and the vineyards. Consequently, today, will always be a family winery, but it is highly specialized to produce different type of DOC and DOCG wines.”, as one famous wine critic says.
With 24 hectares of vineyards, soon to be 31 within the next 2 years, will not only permit to increase its quantity but to always improve the quality in all of our products.
