Ornato is the name of the estate vineyard owned by the family in Serralunga d’Alba. From the grapes of this estate, they have always produced the classical Barolo, but in 1985 they decided to select a small quantity of Nebbiolo from two vines to create a Barolo that reflects the marvelous characteristics of the Serralunga soil. The characteristics of the soil, the microclimate and favourable exposure, allows the grapes to become extremely rich.
The first Barolo “Ornato” was produced in 1991, to celebrate the estate's 110th anniversary. Since then, it is only produced in outstanding years.
The colour is intense and deep, almost impenetrable. The palate is deep and rich, showing good structure, with a long finish. “Ornato” is a more modern in style than the classical Barolo, but still true to its roots.
