Cockspur Old Gold is a perfect blend of pure light-bodied double distilled rum and a small amount of full bodied pot still rum. This is Cockspurs ' Special Reserve' matured in oak barrels, which were previously used for aging bourbon. COCKSPUR OLD GOLD is a mellow and smooth brown spirit. Barbados is generally regarded as the birthplace of rum, or rumbullion as it was originally called nearly 350 years ago. The famous cockspur brand, with its proud and colourful 'rooster' symbol has been an integral part of Barbados life since Danish merchant Valdemar Hanschell set up his first ship's chandlery and liquor store there in the 1800's.Since then it has grown to become Barbados' leading golden rum, winning numerous awards at international competitions.
