The Artist Behind the Labels. Catherine Abel is an Australian artist who began her professional career in 2000 when she moved to Paris to realize a lifelong dream of becoming a painter. Long inspired by the Art Deco movement and the bold angular shapes that defined the architecture, fashion and furniture of that era, Catherine has created a stunning collection of figurative oil paintings. Combining classic styles with complex themes of modern feminine sexuality, her works are powerfully seductive compositions of strength and beauty. Influenced at an early age by the works of Tamara de Lempicka, Fernand Leger, and more recently Man Ray and Picasso, her work has evolved into a truly original style. Returning last year from three years abroad -- living and exhibiting in Paris and San Francisco, Catherine now lives and works in Sydney, Australia. She has rapidly established herself as a fine art painter there, while continuing to sell internationally. Her works have been featured in many publications, most notably "The Sophisticate" 2003 Annual Issue published by the Art Deco Society of California and "Kilometer Zero" published in Paris.
