Show me a critic that does not adore this wine and I will check his pulse. You must be teetotal, inhuman or clinically dead if the allure of this redoubtable Saint Emilion wine does not seduce your senses and your soul. For many wine aficionados Cheval Blanc is a desert island wine: even Russian President Vladimir Putin made a detour to the chateau to load a case into the boot of his armour-palated Merc. At its best, this is a voluptuous, sensuous wine with awesome complexity, yet I must confess something before I continue. Cheval Blanc and I have become estranged and I am courting another.
