WOODFORD RESERVE DISTILLER'S SELECT BOURBON:
Woodford Reserve Distiller's Select is a "small batch" bourbon with roots in the Jefferson and Woodford Counties of central Kentucky. Woodford Reserve is carefully hand-crafted and painstakingly selected from only the finest maturing whiskey stocks by our Master Distiller, Chris Morris. Our bourbon is left slumbering a minimum of six years to produce a whiskey of exceptional character with an aroma and taste that are unique--and, we believe, unparalleled.
The Woodford Reserve Distillery crafts our bourbon using processes virtually unchanged from that used by the Peppers (Elijah and Oscar) in 1790. We believe the old ways are still the best way to make a premium bourbon whiskey. We cook our sour mash in small batches and use copper pot stills, just as the early distillers in Kentucky did.
In addition, extra time is taken to ferment our mash seven days and to triple distill the mash before it goes into the barrel to begin maturation. Our barrels are hand-crafted for us from charred American white oak by the Blue Grass Cooperage in Louisville, Kentucky. Time has taught us that one can't take short cuts when making a top quality whiskey.
Our packaging is a distinctive decanter produced specifically for us and sealed with cork. Distiller's Select is available in 1.0 L, 750 ml, and 50 ml bottles. We also produce a VIP Bottle featuring a wooden gift box and a customized name plate (in 750 ml only) and a Kentucky Derby commemorative bottle (750 ml only.)
Woodford Reserve is a clear soft toffee color with a strong, powerful vanilla scent with overlays of rich fruit, cocoa, and black pepper. With water, its smell is soft with balanced barrel notes of oak and vanilla, as well as hints of apricot and mint. Woodford Reserve's taste is subtle with notes of creme brulee and apricot tart. Its finish is pleasantly sweet and cooling.
We have also released the first vintage in our Master's Collection, Four Grain. In the Master's Collection Four Grain bourbon we have combined corn and malted barley with both rye and wheat. This unique combination has created a flavorful bourbon rich in fruit, baking spices and soft cocoa notes. It is a bourbon to sip and savor straight up, or with a single ice cube if you prefer it chilled.
Four Grain was initially released in Kentucky only in October 2005. And, a second and final batch was released to select states in late October 2006. This is a limited edition offering. We do plan to release other Master's Collection vintages in the future.
The Woodford Reserve Master's Collection embodies our historic Distillery's one-of-a-kind production capabilities as well as our bourbon's contemporary style and straightforward presentation. Released periodically, each Master's Collection offering will be hand-numbered and produced in limited quantities.
The Master's Collection will feature the most innovative, handcrafted and, above all, the finest whiskeys in the world.
