Originally founded by Don Facundo Bacardi in 1862 in Santiago de Cuba, BACARDI is headquartered today in Hamilton, Bermuda. It is the world's largest privately held family owned spirits company. BACARDI is the producer of the world's great BACARDI rums.
Selling in excess of twenty million cases per year, BACARDI rum is the globe's number one international premium spirit. Since 1965 we have been making BACARDI rum at the BACARDI & Company Limited distillery on New Providence.
We are proud to say that our BACARDI rum is the only rum produced locally in the Bahamas and that it was the first major product to be exported from the Bahamas.
At our New Providence facility, we perform all phases of rum production, from fermentation and distillation to aging, blending and bottling. BACARDI & Company Limited currently exports the equivalent of seven million standard cases of rum to Europe per year. We continually invest in and improve our 61-acre New Providence facility, adding new buildings, equipment and cutting-edge technology. These improvements allow us to increase production of our high quality BACARDI products, which in turn boosts the economy of the Bahamas.
