WineSpectator Review: Supple and harmonious, with rich, earthy currant, cherry and sage notes. Shows fine depth and concentration with a long, full finish and plush tannins.
Parker Review: After producing a number of unexciting Cabernet Sauvignons in the early eighties, Mondavi has gotten this program back on track. Even the nonReserve cuvees, which are now bottled unfiltered, go from strength to strength. In 1992 Mondavi produced the first Unfiltered Cabernet Sauvignon with an Oakville designation. This wine could easily pass for a Reserve bottling. Much like the unfiltered 1991 cuvee, it is a superior wine to many of the Reserves made between 1976 and 1985. The 1992 Oakville possesses a big, forceful, intense bouquet of smoky, toasty oak, sweet cassis fruit, chocolate, and a dash of herbs and vanilla. There is outstanding concentration, full body, moderate tannin, and a sweet, expansive, layered feel. This terrific Cabernet should drink well for 15 or more years.
