WineSpectator Review:
Subtle aromas of freshly sliced plums, blackberries and peaches. Fullbodied, with lots of fruit and a backbone of firm tannins. Toasted oak on the midpalate. This is a bold, structured red that needs time. I like this better than the 2000. Best after 2008.
Parker Review:
The ethereal 2001 Barbaresco Santo Stefano is simply gorgeous. Translucent ruby in color, it offers a delicate nose of violets, spices, menthol and minerals along with layers of ripe fruit that unfold in a supremely elegant counterpoint of flavors and sensations, finishing with tremendous length. Not to be missed. A Casa Vinicola Bruno Giacosa bottling. Anticipated maturity 2009 to 2019.
