Pepper, garrigue, and herbes de Provence characteristics, along with kirsch, iodine, seaweed, and black cherry notes can be found in the 2003 Chateauneuf du Pape Croix de Bois (produced from an 80-year old vineyard in the eastern sector known as La Crau, not far from the renowned vineyards of Font de Michelle). It should drink well for 10-15 years. This wine, aged in demi-muids and foudre, will be bottled with no fining or filtration. -Robert Parker Wine Advocate #156 (Dec 2004)
