"Very lush, modern style. This almost oozes raspberry ganache and fig paste flavors, with lots of bass thanks to bold, toasty cocoa and mocha notes that dominate for now. But there's a fine minerality buried beneath it all, so cellar. Best from 2007 through 2024. 300 cases imported." -Wine Spectator (11/06)
"The 2004 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee du Quet, which comes from some of their rockiest vineyards on the plateau area near Cabrieres in Chateauneuf, has a dark ruby/purple color and the classic bouquet of kirsch liqueur intermixed with raspberry, plum, licorice, pepper, and seaweed. It is full-bodied, has fabulous intensity, and is already approachable now but should evolve for 12-15+ years. In the northernmost sector of Chateauneuf, the Chaussy family run this fine estate that has been making brilliant Chateauneuf du Pape for over a decade. Frugal consumers should check out their Cotes du Rhones, which are made just outside the appellation. Their wines are extremely pure and emphasize the red fruits in the regular Chateauneuf du Pape, and slightly darker fruits with additional minerality in their top selection, the Cuvee du Quet, which is usually a two-thirds blend of Grenache and the rest a whopping 30 or 35% Mourvedre." -Robert Parker (02/07)
