The 1996 Salon Le Mesnil is clearly superior to some truly noteworthy vintages, including 1995, 1990, 1985 and 1982. One has to reach all the way back to the 1928 bottling to find the depth of what the 1996 Le Mesnil is capable of delivering! Salon '96 earns Wally's highest recommendation.
