In any given year a wine always stands out after a blistering tasting of forty of Jean Marie Guffens wines at Verget. This one is my pick for 2004. As was the memorable 1999 and 2002 Grande Elevage, this wine is a blend of Meursault and Puligny and I’ll bet some Corton Charlemagne. Great wine for the money. Not many cases were produced.

Parker Review:
There is enormous aromatic richness and intensity to the 2004 CortonCharlemagnes herbal mineralladen nose. Harvested at 14% natural potential alcohol, it boasts a medium to fullbodied character with enormous depth and power. Toasted minerals, spices, sage, and pears can be discerned in its pure, highly expressive character.
