Plantation Grand Reserve Rum 750ML
Product Information:
The origin of the name "rum" is still under debate. One term, "rumbullion" means "stem stew" in Creole, and "an uproar" in British slang. Some believe the Latin name for sugar, "saccharum", may have been shortened to rum. Still, another account says it may be French in origin ("arome", meaning "aroma"), relating to the pungent smell of early dark rum.
Rum is distilled from fermented molasses, sugar cane, or cane syrup. Sugar cane is not native to the Caribbean, where most of it is now produced. Spanish explorers brought it with them on their journeys. Columbus is even said to have planted it on his second voyage to Hispaniola and Cuba.
