The 2004 Chateauneuf du Pape is an open-knit, precocious, heady wine with delicious sweet black cherry and currant fruit intermixed with plenty of spice and licorice. It is medium to full-bodied with silky tannin, good freshness, and a layered mouthfeel. It should drink well for up to a decade.
