Very rare from the regions beginnings as a serious red wine appellation. For the most part Barbaresco was pretty much living in near total obscurity until the 1960s, when Giovanni Gaja (Angelo's father) began proving what could come of these vineyards. In the 70s, his son Angelo introduced single-vineyard offerings, and the rest is Italian wine history!
