Arneis is indigenous to Piedmont. In the Piemontese dialect Arneis means a difficult and demanding person, which makes it pretty darn appropriate for this grape, which is notoriously difficult to vinify well. No worries here! This light-on-its-feet Arneis is from a 35-hectare vineyard in the Roero area. It is fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel to preserve freshness and held for just six months prior to release for the very sam reason. The nose suggests pear and crispe apple, while the palate is dry, nicely acidic with an elegant and rich finish. May we suggest it as an aperitif or alongside vegetable antipasti.
