WineSpectator Review:
Shows bright plum and berry character, with hints of mineral. Fullbodied, with silky tannins and a long finish. Best after 2010.
Parker Review:
The estates 2003 Barolo Lazzarito is another strong effort. It sees a higher percentage of small French oak, and is therefore rounder and richer in its texture, with notable expansiveness on the palate. Smoke, tar, ripe dark fruit and sweet toasted oak all emerge in an intense composition that expresses plenty of intensity and depth. This fullbodied Barolo possesses outstanding depth, even if the finish is a little hot and the tannins are somewhat astringent on the close. Anticipated maturity 2009 to 2019.
Tanzer Review:
Medium red. Less fruit and more tobacco on the nose than the Castiglione, with lowertoned notes of truffle, menthol, oak and underbrush. Lush, supple and broad, with good depth of texture and good sweet fruit. Finishes with substantial toothcoating tannins that come off as a bit suaver than those of the Castiglione. But this is still in a rather masculine style.
