This bright intense wine is a blend of 40% Sauvignon Blanc estate fruit that has had 24-hour skin contact; 20% Sauvignon Blanc estate fruit high density planting with no skin contact; 20% Sauvignon Gris estate fruit with 50% skin contact; and 20% early ripened estate Sauvignon Blanc with no skin contact. Having no Pinot Gris this year makes the wine more pure and correct. The wine still smells of clean yeast and lees and there is a sweetness to the mouth that belies the wines absolute dryness. As the wine finishes, the acid and a hint of tannin make it stay and persist. You almost want to lick your lips it is so tasty. These four lots that make up Au Naturel are produced from four lots of estate fruit picked on different days. The addition of the Sauvignon Gris adds a layer of complexity and additional minerality. 1,000 cases produced.
Tanzer Review: Pale color. Leesy aromas of lemon cream, spices, smoke, minerals and wet stone. Round, ripe and sweet, with a flavor of peach fuzz and a slightly wild aspect. A distinctly fleshy style of sauvignon with a finishing suggestion of honeysuckle I would have guessed it had some semillon in it, but it doesnt.
