From the ancient red Bordeaux varietal comes this sexy exotic red that tastes somewhere between a Cabernet Sauvignon and a rich styled Sangiovese. This mini-mighty won a recent Wally's tasting with wines almost double the price. 92 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
WINEMAKER’S Notes: Beautifully deep and intensely violet colour, this wine begins with characteristic aromas and flavors of sweet spices like clover and cinnamon mixed with black tea and tobacco notes before opening to show big fruit intensity, blackberries and cherry notes and sweet vanilla and cacao from the oak. Surprisingly fresh, with great structure and very fine, sweet tannins, ending with a soft texture and nice body that linger on the palate. The moderate temperatures that accompanied this vintage encouraged the phenological stages – flowering, fruit set, and ripening – to proceed slowly and easily, delaying the harvest, producing fully ripe tannins and rich fruit aromas and flavors. These qualities, which are clearly reflected in the impressively concentrated, intensely fruity and fresh characteristics of the wine, combined with a remarkable oscillation between daily high and low temperatures to produce very intense colors in a season that will likely be considered one of the best vintages on record.
