Winemaker Margaux Singleton’s notes: The color is deep ruby out to the edge, with a flamboyant nose of wild raspberries, Across the palate it is supple, svelte and refined, with tame tannins and fresh flavors. A subtle sense of oak lurks in the background. The finish is long and satisfying. This is a very pleasing wine, as confessed by the last line in my tasting notebook: can’t seem to keep hands off glass.
Robert Parker has said that if California were to have Grand Cru vineyard sites, To Kalon (meaning “the highest beauty” in Greek) would certainly be one. Only 7 barrels produced.
