The 2005 Chateauneuf du Pape Les Quartz again offers a liqueur of minerals, has firm tannins, great intensity, and an inky ruby/purple color to the rim, a wonderfully sweet nose of black raspberries, kirsch, licorice, with some smoke and a hint of pain grille. This superb wine has tremendous palate presence and great minerality and definition. Give it 2-3 years of cellaring and drink it over the following 15 or more years.
