2006 Huntington Sauvignon Blanc |
Grapefruit, gooseberry and green. The three g's of the nose of this wine, with mouthwatering acidity, star fruit, melon and honeysuckle. Juicy and bright flavors of the usual grapefruit, but also red apple and a smooth feel that belies the high level of acidity. Creamier on the palate than the nose suggests, and it feels as if it is missing something mid-palate. Drinking Recommendation: Now. Food Pairing: salads with favas, fiddleheads, snap peas, and a citrusy vinaigrette. |

Wine Tasting Notes...Upon opening, the Central Coast Viognier immediately sends forth a perfume of honeysuckle and peach blossoms. Once in the glass these aromas are accompanied by melon, buttered toast, and rich tropical fruits. A mix of tart mango, peach, grapefruit with a rich creamy texture, this is a luscious treat that showcases how Viognier can be both big and rich yet soft and supple when handled gently. The moderate acidity and full fruit flavors make this a perfect wine for pairing with rich foods such as lobster, crab, abalone or more casual fare such as pt, fresh fruit and a variety of hard and soft cheeses. |

| 2005 Cycles Gladiator Syrah |
An intriguing combination of raspberry and plum aromas framed by fresh cracked pepper and pretty oak notes. The mouth is decidedly rich and spicy with big red fruit flavors layered over spice, tobacco, and blueberry. The mouthfeel is full bodied with soft tannins that melt into a medium thread of acidity. The gamey components of this wine make it a perfect match for duck and other wild fowl, lamb in a red wine reduction, or ribs and BBQ sauce. |
