Wine Spectator Review: A spicy version, with lovely cherry and floral flavors underneath. Elegant, yet deep and concentrated, needing time to resolve the oak and firm structure. There's nice sweet fruit from start to long finish. Best from 2012 through 2024. Parker Review: The 2005 Griotte-Chambertin is even brighter and spicier as well as more intense in its pure cherry fruit character than this years Charmes. Cherry, cranberry, mint and brown spices in the nose lead to a juicy, fresh-fruited, fruit-pit accented, and overtly chalky palate. Ultra-refined in tannins, this wine one of several, incidentally, that were vinified with a significant portion of whole clusters mounts an impressive drive for the finish, scoring blazing fruit intensity and mineral persistence. Other Notes: This is a study in silk and velvet with a ripe, elegant and refined nose featuring very red berry fruit aromas and hints of smoked meat, wood spice and anise that merge seamlessly into dense and concentrated flavors that completely saturate the palate with sap and culminate in a fantastically long finish that leaves one almost wondering when it will stop as it seems to stop only to start up again. The '05 Griotte has that 'wow' factor as it's harmonious and spherical and while it will age effortlessly for years to come, there is so much mid-palate depth that it will be approachable young. 95 points - Burghound | ||||
