Product Information: Fevre Chablis Montee de Tonnerre Parker Review: From a high-elevation parcel of true Montee de Tonerre plus a vineyard in the south-facing, grand cru-like Chapelot below, the Fevre 2006 Chablis Montee de Tonerre seems to reflect its fossil-rich Kimmeridgian soil in a strikingly overt chalkiness in the nose and on the palate. Blueberry, grapefruit, and lemon too are prominent, but the minerals set the tone and the long finish is a bit austere in its reliance on them. Emerging deep-seated nuttiness and herbal inflections promise further complexity as this enjoys a couple of years of bottle age. It should keep well for a decade if not longer. Tanzer Review: Pale green-tinged yellow. Highly complex nose melds lemon, lime, minerals and powdered stone a real essence of this superb premier cru. Wonderfully taut but youthfully closed, with an uncompromising dryness and powerful minerality to the citrus, stone and mint flavors. Rather tough going today this needs at least three years. Other Notes: A wonderfully expressive pure, elegant and airy nose of white flowers and oyster shell notes that is a step up in overall elegance as well as complexity gives way to round yet precise and palate staining medium full flavors suffused with an intense minerality while delivering both power and weight yet delivering them with grace and refinement. This wine impressed me to no end for its sense of balance and harmony. (Drink 2012) Burghound | ||||
