Product Information: In the late 1990s, Christophe Perrot-Minot made the marketing decision to cut yields drastically and offer superconcentrated, deeply colored, no-compromise wines at a substantial price premium over those of his neighbors. He already had the right vines: his vineyards average 65 years in age across 36 acres in 19 Côte de Nuits vineyards. After a couple of heavily extracted, new-oaky vintages, today's wines are still extravagantly rich but velvety, finer and better balanced. Wine Spectator Review: Pure and silky in texture, this suave red is full of blackberry, black currant and mineral notes, all displayed gracefully on the vibrant structure. Fine length. Best from 2010 through 2020. 175 cases made. Parker Review: Perrot-Minot's 2006 Morey-St.-Denis La Riotte Vieilles Vignes once again showcases the virtues of this small, little-known premier cru, although it will scarcely cause one to forget the momentous wine made from these vines in 2005. Lightly-cooked mulberry and blackberry mingle with burley tobacco, cocoa powder, and espresso in the nose and on a palate of uncommonly thick richness for the vintage. This finishes with impressively bitter-sweet, low-toned length. It seems a reasonable candidate for half a dozen or more years of attention, but don't look for the lift or elegance - let alone brightness - that characterize so many of the best 2006s. | ||||
