The renowned Unico (produced from 80-100 year old vines) is one of the world's most distinctive, singular wines. Always released late, it is incredibly fresh, and capable of 2-3 more decades of evolution.
Spain's most consistently great winery - Robert Parker
Parker Review:
This wine has scored higher in previous tastings. In the company of other Unicos, it appears leaner, more backward and austere. Hard tannin dominates this mediumbodied wine, which exhibits a dark ruby color with a touch of amber at the edge. Closed and spicy, this wine requires 4 to 5 more years of cellaring. Based on this tasting, the 1979 does not appear to be a candidate for greatness, although this bottle may have been less representative.
