Parker Review: Aged completely in large foudres, the outstanding 2006 La Croce Proprietary Red, a similar co-fermented blend of equal parts Syrah and Sangiovese, is a perfect choice for an Italian trattoria or French or American bistro. Sweet strawberry and cherry notes intermixed with scents of unsmoked cigar tobacco, cedar, spice, and a hint of roasted herbs are present in this supple-textured, richly fruity, medium to full-bodied, silky, complex, elegant wine. It will drink well for 3-5 years. Tanzer Review: Medium red. Dried cherry, redcurrant and rose aromas are complemented by musky herbs and anise. Sappy red and dark berry flavors are framed by silky tannins and pick up a note of bitter cherry skin with air. Turns brighter on the finish, with the redcurrant and floral notes repeating. Very successful for a New World sangiovese. | ||||
