Tanzer Review: Bright red with ruby tones. Highly perfumed, expressive aromas of black raspberry, black cherry, graphite and licorice. Dense and lush but youthfully tight, with terrific floral lift to the complex dark fruit and mineral flavors. Wonderfully silky in texture but at the same time quite taut and vibrant for 2009. Finishes extremely long, with sweet tannins buffered by the wine's powerful mid-palate material. An outstanding sample. Jayer notes that the crop level was a generous 40 hectoliters per hectare. 92-95 points, Stephen Tanzer Other Notes: A ripe, spicy and exceptionally fresh nose trimmed in subtle wood speaks of red currant and cassis before merging into impressively intense and powerful flavors brimming in dry extract that confers a seductive texture on the focused and muscular finish that is balanced and hugely long. Indeed, there is so much sap that this will be approachable in its youth but should age into a spectacular wine. 92-95 points, Burghound. | ||||
