Wine Spectator Review: s relies on a heavy dose of rather overtly sweet vanilla-tinged toast, with the soft plum and blackberry fruit behind it. There's nice mouthfeel...with the toast taking the upper hand on the finish. The better of two bottles tasted. Drink now. 2,500 cases imported. Parker Review: The 2008 Alpha Carmenere is a glass-coating opaque purple with a nose of damp earth, mineral, sage, thyme, tobacco, and blueberry. Dense and full-bodied on the palate, it reveals layers of ripe fruit, lots of spice, and enough structure to evolve for 1-2 years. It will deliver prime drinking from 2012 to 2020. Other Notes: Starts with typical aromas of olive, herbs, spice and pepper, and theres berry fruit underneath. The palate is racier and more staunch than the 2007, with cherry, olive, plum and a hint of raisin. Tightly formed, with a lively DNA and a tangy finish touched up by cocoa. Wine Enthusiast | ||||
