"Meritage is a recently created word that combines merit with heritage, creating Meritage (pronounced similar to heritage). It is a name used to define a wine of blended classic Bordeaux grapes that include: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, petit Verdot as well as for the whites Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon, and Sauvignon Vert. These wines very vastly in the quality, just like a true Bordeaux, and can be a steal at a fraction of a cost of a good Bordeaux cru. Depending on the varietal mixture used in the final blend, these wines vary greatly from one another and should be sampled to find out what suits your palate best". |
