"An Italian at heart, French at birth, yet a modern Californian. This Varietal has made quite the journey around the world and is grown side by side with Dolcetto and Barbera in the Piedmont region of Northern Italy. Today, however, anything called Charbono is Californian by nature and mostly from Napa and Mendocino. Tasting notes: A deep, rich purple colour wine with quite the tannic punch. Notes of plums, pepper, tar, and earth are common characteristics of Charbono and evolve into earthy tones with age. A fantastic, full-bodied balance comes to life on your tongue, especially when drank with a good meal. Drinkable within the first 5 years of its life, but only a select few, very well made wines, of this varietal hold up to the 10+ years of aging". |
