While it may seem like the most famous names in Bordeaux garner all of the attention, the number one request I receive more than anything else is for good, affordable claret. We recently happened to luck into a parcel of this delicious Cotes de Castillon made by Juliette Becot of Chateau BeauSejour Becot. A perfectly mature, screaming value from the historic 2010 vintage, this is drinking beautifully right now and is a no-brainer to put away by the case. Whether you enjoy it while hosting friends at a party or preparing dinner at home on a weeknight, this is a double 90-point bottle that will thrill your palate without breaking the bank. And just this weekend, it’s under $20 while supplies last.
  1. 90 Wine Spectator Notes

A supple, polished, modern style, relying on creamy, mocha-tinged toast, gentle plum and blackberry fruit flavors before finishing with a lingering cocoa edge. Should stretch out nicely with modest cellaring. Drink now through 2018. -James Molesworth, Wine Spectator

  2. 90 Wine Advocate Notes

Tasted blind at the Southwold Bordeaux 2010 tasting. The Joanin Becot has a simple bouquet with raspberry and balsamic scents that open and muster more vigour with time, the oak nicely integrated and revealing floral tones. The palate is medium-bodied with a tannic, masculine entry. This is very structured with a dry finish, but it is balanced and poised and will benefit from several years in the cellar. Tasted January 2014. -Neal Martin, The Wine Advocate
