The cooler and more austere 2014 Espectacle del Montsant could have some similarities with 2008. It has beautiful floral aromas and hints of orange peel and wet stones. It has a serious, balanced and austere palate, a closer expression of Espectacle, with contained ripeness and an earthier, more mineral finish. It's very different from 2015, which is possibly a more classical expression of the vineyard, while this 2014 is quite unique and different. But I like this austerity very much. Around 6,000 bottles were filled from one 4,500-liter oak foudre. It was bottled in May 2016. I had the chance to taste two vintages side by side, the more ethereal 2014 and the more structured 2015. Great wines in both cases, and it's up to personal taste which one you prefer. I give the edge to the 2014. LG - 04/2018
Opaque ruby. A highly perfumed bouquet evokes red/blue fruit preserves, candied flowers and Asian spices, along with a smoky mineral overtone that gains in volume as the wine opens up. Impressively concentrated yet lively in style, offering sweet, mineral-tinged raspberry, blueberry, violet pastille, spicecake flavors and subtle vanilla and smoke notes. Conveys a suave blend of power and finesse finishing extremely long, with harmonious tannins and outstanding clarity. JR - 04/2019
