Buyer Review
  1. Geoff Pattison
Last summer we debuted (and quickly sold out of) the incredible 2015 Chateau de Pibarnon Rose Nuances which had the distinction of being the highest rated rose of the year by both Wine Spectator and Vinous. This year’s release ups the ante with a 94 point score making this Vinous’ highest rated rose of all time!

Primarily known for their reds, Chateau de Pibarnon recently introduced this Reserve Rosé dubbed “Nuances” in 2014. A tiny production of 500 cases, this incredible Rosé is 100% Mourvedre from the estate’s highest-altitude and oldest vines. Aged in a combination of large oak casks and terracotta amphorae, unlike most Rosés, it spends a full year in the cellar gaining complexity and richness. As in years past, this impressively complex Rosé is specifically held back for late-release and is capable of aging for years (through 2025 according to Josh Raynolds of Vinous). We were able to secure all 10 cases imported into California. Get it while it lasts

(raised in a combination of a neutral, 300-liter Stockinger oak barrel and large amphoras) Light bright orange-pink. A highly complex, expansive bouquet evokes fresh, mineral-laced red berries, peach, orange zest, candied lavender and fennel. Sappy, penetrating and pure, offering concentrated red berry and pit fruit flavors braced by a spine of juicy acidity and a spicy jolt of white pepper. Finishes extremely long and silky; mouth-watering acidity energizes the lingering strawberry and nectarine qualities. -Josh Raynolds, Vinous
