  1. Robert Vardanian
Penfolds has long stood at the forefront of Australian wine achievement. That is due in no small part to their crowning achievement, the Grange Shiraz. Darling of collectors, auction houses and connoisseurs the world over, Grange has gained a reputation in wine circles that has helped shed light on the full range of exceptional wines in the Penfolds arsenal. Today, Wally's is proud to offer an exclusive and ultra limited gem from their treasure trove. Yattarna is essentially Penfolds' white Grange, a unicorn wine that is seldom seen in or outside of Australia! The wine represents the pinnacle of Penfolds' winemaking skill and a tireless pursuit to craft the finest, most elegant white wine from the various cool climate vineyards found throughout Southeastern Australia. The 2016 Yattarna Bin 144 Chardonnay is sourced from vineyards as far spread as the Adelaide Hills, Tumbarumba, and even the southern island state of Tasmania. Now in its 22nd vintage, the wine has reached a level of expression that can only be compared to the powerful yet chiseled wines produced in Burgundy's top Grand Crus... Corton-Charlemagne bares the greatest resemblance. Supplies on this rare bottling are extremely limited so don't delay in adding one to your collection or enjoying it tonight with seared scallops, roast chicken or aged gouda. Cheers!

Gently toasted almond and subtle pencil shavings give some indication of the 35% new French oak that was used to age the 2016 Chardonnay Yattarna. Ripe peach, pear and melon fruit fills out the medium to full-bodied palate, then really grows in intensity and focus on the long finish. This is the most complete Yattarna I've ever tasted, blending richness and acidity in a seamless fashion. It's a blend of fruit from Tasmania (51%), Henty (23%), Adelaide Hills (14%) and Tumbarumba (12%).
