1945 Chateau Mouton Rothschild

Wally's price: $33,000

100 Points - Wine Advocate

A consistent 100-point wine (only because my point scale stops at that number), the 1945 Mouton-Rothschild is truly one of the immortal wines of the century. This wine is easily identifiable because of its remarkably exotic, over-ripe, sweet nose of black fruits, coffee, tobacco, mocha, and Asian spices. -Robert Parker

1990 Chateau Petrus

Wally's price: $6,000

100 Points - Wine Advocate

This dense ruby/purple-colored effort is beginning to hint at the massive richness and full-bodied intensity lurking beneath its wall of tannin. The vintage’s sweetness, low acidity, and velvety tannins are present in abundance, and the wine is massive in the mouth as well as incredibly pure and well-delineatedThis wine is capable of lasting at least four more decades. An incredible achievement!- Robert Parker

1961 Chateau Latour

Wally's price: $6,500

100 Points - Vinous

The 1961 Latour is unquestionable one of the finest bottles that I have tasted. It has a breathtaking bouquet: fresh as morning dew and brilliantly delineated, intense black fruit whereby every atom is suffused with mineralité. It feels so youthful and vital. The nose is the apotheosis of Bordeaux being so aromatically regal and aristocratic.- Antonio Galloni

2000 Chateau Cheval Blanc 1.5L

Wally's price: $2,400

100 Points - Vinous

A wine of exquisite aromatic depth and grace, the 2000 Cheval Blanc is fully captivating. All the elements fall into place in an effortless, gracious wine. It’s frankly hard to move past the 2000 Cheval, because at this point, I want nothing to compete with it.- Antonio Galloni

1993 DRC La Tache

Wally's price: $6,000

1995 Points - Burghound

The nose evidences a slight floral quality, and a fascinating mix of earth, leather, tea and spice notes plus an interesting green bark component. The slightly austere, tannic, wonderfully rich flavors are dense, in fact extremely dense with excellent depth and terrific complexity and a finish that seems to go on forever.- Allen Meadows

2005 Comte de Vogue Musigny Vieilles Vignes

Wally's price: $2,000

96 Points - Wine Advocate

Medium to deep ruby. The nose is intoxicatingly fragranced with enticing notes of jasmine, violets, milk chocolate, red cherries and wild strawberries. The medium bodied palate provides fairly high acidity, a medium level of silky tannins and adds a very fine touch of minerality to the perfumed fruit. Very long, elegant finish.- Robert Parker

2002 Screaming Eagle

Wally's price: $4,500

97 Points - Wine Advocate

Beautiful floral notes intermixed with creme de cassis, licorice and charcoal jump from the glass of this dense purple-colored 2002. Opulent, broad, full-bodied and more mature than I expected given how this wine showed in its youth, this deep, rich Cabernet Sauvignon is exceptional.

1997 Harlan Estate

Wally's price: $1,500

100 Points - Wine Advocate

The 1997 Harlan Estate is one of the greatest Cabernet Sauvignon-based wines I have ever tasted. A blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, with the rest Merlot and Cabernet Franc, this enormously-endowed, profoundly rich wine must be tasted to be believed. Opaque purple-colored, it boasts spectacular, soaring aromatics of vanilla, minerals, coffee, blackberries, licorice, and cassis. In the mouth, layer after layer unfold powerfully yet gently.- Robert Parker

1997 Gaja “Sperss” Barolo 1.5L

Wally's price: $1,400

99 Points - Wine Advocate

A virtually perfect effort is the 1997 Sperss, which represents the essence of truffles, earth, and black cherries in its striking aromatics and multidimensional, opulent, full-bodied palate. The acidity seems low because of the huge glycerin levels and prodigious concentration of fruit, but I suspect it is normal in the scheme of oenological measurement.

1964 Krug Vintage Brut 1.5L

Wally's price: $7,000

97 Points - Wine Spectator

Beautifully mature and a joy to drink, this 1964 displays a complex biscuit, honey and dried citrus bouquet. Rich, harmonious and still lively, it offers toast, honey and fruit preserve flavors, with a hint of fresh mushroom. Long, nutty finish.- BS
